There is variety in the Body of Christ. Revelations 7:9 describes the gathering of God’s people from “every nation, tribe, and tongue,” and Gospel of Luke commands us to “invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and [we] will be blessed” (Luke 14:13). Under the “umbrella” of Christ, we are ALL invited to join Him. The aptly titled Umbrella Conference in Alberta celebrates this diversity of Christians by gathering ministry leaders together to learn, share, and champion the “cause to include people with disabilities in our faith communities.”
During this weekend, esteemed speakers are invited to speak on various topics related to disability ministry – one being our very own TOGETHER author Barb Newman. As conference attendees are invited to choose from four different tracks, the seminars can be curated according to each guest’s interests. The groups are as follows:
- The Joy of Disability Ministry
- The Joy of Christ-Centered Relationships
- The Joy of Inclusive Community
- The Joy of Being Anchored in the Lord
In addition to the seminars, the conference also features opportunities to worship. We will be joined by talented worship bands and other fun acts for the whole family to enjoy.
